The researchers followed in the hospital, in the city of Toronto, Canada, the process of losing weight after giving birth in a group that included about 300 women.
The researchers monitored the factors that lead to serious injury, diabetes and heart disease, such as blood pressure and bad cholesterol and insulin resistance.

The study revealed that most women did not begin to lose weight immediately after birth, as eight out of every ten women increased their weight during the three months after childbirth compared before pregnancy.

But the researchers found that 75 percent of women who have lost their weight during the period which began three months after birth and up to 12 months.

The study reported that 25 percent of women who did not lose their weight or increased their weight are the most vulnerable to the risk of diabetes and heart after that.

Said, a senior official of the British Heart Foundation said that in spite of the difficulty of losing weight after pregnancy, the overweight increases the risk of heart attack or stroke.

Added that "it is important to take care of new mothers themselves just like the care of their children by maintaining their work along with healthy nutrition." and headed advice for these mothers, saying "undoubtedly too with the arrival of your new baby, so do not try to participate in a program of fitness or diet to lose weight, and instead you continue to return to fitness over exert physical exertion in your daily life. For example, to walk in time noon, or go to aerobics classes that provide services for mothers and children."
